About

Mees Blankevoort is a film composer with a background in songwriting, pop music production/composition and experimental electronic music.

Music has always played a big part in his life, during Mees’ childhood he enjoyed a rich education in music at the primary school “De Koorschool Haarlem”, here he learned how to sing on a high level. After primary school Mees’ perspective broadened; electronic music, jazz and pop came his way. During this time he discovered that he could also compose music himself on the computer.

He has composed for films such as Lost Fathers (2023, dir. Shahab Albonaser), Jens en het Gevecht (2024, dir. Eli Idsart), Waar We Wilden Zijn (2025, dir. Kellan Vogelenzang) and Niemandsland (2025, dir. Matthijs Sluijs). Coming from a songwriting background, Mees tends to really convey the emotional value of a film.

In addition to film scoring, Mees is involved in various other projects, such as the band “Dan Green & The Mystery Machine” and his soloproject “Mezus”. All in all, he is a versatile composer with a distinctive approach to music.
